We want to shout about Hartlepool’s success stories and introduce you to the new kids on the block. You’ll find behind the scenes articles about local businesses alongside regular updates and news from the Shop Hartlepool team.

We are always looking for great stories, so if you want to to be featured, or know a business who would, get in touch using the button below.

Wonderful wool

Who would have guessed your nana’s old wool could be the spark that starts a new business. But that’s how it happened for Millie of Knit & Knot Designs. Now using locally sourced wool, cotton and other materials Knit & Knot make earrings, nursery decor, wall hangings, keyring and so much more.

What is the back story of your business?

I started playing around with some old wool back in lockdown and realised I really enjoyed it and it kept my mind occupied. The next thing I know I was opening an Etsy shop and shipping my orders around the world!

What does your business do?

I create earrings, homeware and accessories mainly using locally sourced wool and cotton. Everything I make is crafted by myself and I welcome custom orders too.

After yours, what is your favourite Hartlepool based business?

I absolutely love Natural Perfections Facial Aesthetics. Laura provides amazing professional advice for any skin concerns and will work with you to get the outcome that is best for you, not to mention the best facials!

What is your best seller and your favourite product personally?

My best sellers are my Pom Pom earrings, I think people love how fun they are! My favourite to make are the macrame rainbows as although people do pick custom colours, I can put together my own favourite colours and offer them at markets.

What are your goals for your business?

The long term dream goal is to eventually be full time with Knit&Knot! I love the small businesses community and I want to learn and develop myself and my business as much as I can. I’d also love to have some of my products stocked in a shop, that would be amazing!

If you could learn a new skill what would it be?

I’ve always loved the look of pottery but I don’t think my little craft room would allow me!
